At last Sunday’s service, St. Andrew’s welcomed eight Jamaican workers from Green Ridge Farms, in an initiative inspired by Mary Ann Barrett. At the end of the service, Archdeacon Nancy invited the men to the front for a prayer and a round of applause in thanks for their important work. They then joined us for a potluck lunch after the service. The men have finished their work picking asparagus at Green Ridge, an asparagus farm in the County, and will now be heading off to Algoma Orchards in Newcastle. Several of the men said they would be back to attend a service at St. Andrew’s next year, now that they know where and who we are.
