Every year, St. Andrew’s Wellington is at the heart of the annual Pumpkinfest Parade on Main Street, Wellington. St. Andrew’s members are front row centre, not only taking part in the parade, but feeding the hungry attendees. This year, Archdeacon Nancy wielded the barbecue tongs, ably assisted by volunteers from the church, to help sell more than 200 hotdogs while other volunteers offered tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks.
Many parade-goers toured our church, stopping to take photos of our dahlias and to give donations to the foodbank. Hundreds of people visited the craft fair in the church hall and the basement What-Not Shop, which had a banner day offering its lightly used goods and clothing. The What-Not shop always does particularly well on festive days in Wellington.
The sun didn’t shine, but the crowds of happy families enjoyed this local event, celebrating our agricultural roots. St. Andrew’s helped to make the occasion special.
